The Union of the Comoros is an island nation situated on the
northern end of the Mozambique Channel, in the Indian Ocean,
off the eastern coast of Africa. Mayotte is geographically
part of the Comoros Islands but is politically separate.
The country is made up of 3 islands:
Ngazidja, Mwali and Nzwani and has 3 official languages, namely
Comorian, Arabic and French.
The islands vegetation is rich in the
blossoms of ylang-ylang, jasmine and orange, in fact 65% of
the worlds perfume essence comes from here. These volcanic
islands are surrounded by beautiful coral reefs, making it
a popular destination for divers and other sea lovers.
